How Yeti Uses Social Media

Every company tries their best to connect to their target market, to almost build an emotional relationship between their product and their consumer. Pushing to use social media as a means to drive brand awareness, while creating “influencers” to help promote how their product is actually a lifestyle. Yeti is almost a master when it comes to using social media. They is not only building their brand through Instagram and Facebook, but they are building a way of life.

If we start to look at how Yeti is using their Facebook to their advantage the direction is pretty clear. They are using more of an organic approach, to help show how Yeti is transforming the outdoor sport world. Focusing more on storytelling, telling the story of how their products are helping people conquer the impossible and push themselves further. Telling people that if you want to do this kind of activity yourself, you need Yeti.

Facebook is more of the story telling aspect for social media, but when it comes to Instagram its slightly different its all about photo. If you were to creep Yeti’s Instagram, you would notice its a bunch of high res photos highlighting individuals doing awesome actives, from fly fishing to mountain climbing, and even relaxing on the beach. However, Yeti plays this smart, because they create these exciting photos to make the viewer believe that if they do this activity then they need to have these products with them. They need to live the Yeti Life style, and embracing using the coolers as more then just a cooler but as a fishing perch.

As you can see Yeti is optimizing their reach and their approach on both platforms differently. Telling their story in a focused manor on Facebook, and expressing their vision through photos on Instagram. These are both great tactics to help influence their target market, and to help keep brand awareness strong. I look forward to seeing more of what Yeti is doing in the future.
